Product Description
Oasis Green Apple Sparkling Drink 350ml Can
A carbonated green apple flavoured soft drink in a 350ml can. Green apple is the tart one, closer in character to lime than to the berry flavours, with a crisp finish that keeps it from tasting heavy.
A can carries 14.5 grams of total sugars, measured in an accredited laboratory rather than rounded off a marketing sheet. A regular cola in a can this size carries more than twice that. The recipe reaches that figure by using fructose alongside sweeteners, which is stated on the can and worth knowing rather than glossing over.
One thing worth knowing before you open it. There is no colour in the recipe, so the liquid pours clear rather than tinted. The flavour is in the taste, not in the look of it.
The tartness is what makes green apple the most versatile flavour after lime. It works through a meal rather than only alongside dessert, it cuts through fried food, and it is the flavour people reach for second when the lime has run out.
Acidity sits between pH 2.4 and 3.1 and carbonation between 0.20 and 0.30 MPa, so the bubble is firm. Serve it cold and pour it over ice if you want the edge softened.
The full recipe is water, fructose, carbon dioxide, flavouring, acidity regulators (citric acid and malic acid), stabiliser (trisodium citrate), preservative (potassium sorbate) and sweeteners (aspartame and acesulfame K). The preservative is the reason a can keeps for twelve months on an ambient shelf without refrigeration.
Contains aspartame, which is a source of phenylalanine.
The carton of 24 is the better buy once it is a regular, and the full sparkling range sits alongside it.
For more on how it tastes and what to pair it with, read the green apple soda guide, or compare all seven flavours in the Oasis Sparkling flavour guide.
