The recipe reaches that figure by using fructose alongside sweeteners, which is stated on the can and worth knowing rather than glossing over. Mango is the lowest sugar figure of the seven flavours, and its Brix runs at 3.0 to 3.5 where the rest of the range sits at 4.0 to 4.7.
It is also the only flavour with no aspartame in it. Mango is sweetened with acesulfame K and sucralose instead, so it carries no phenylalanine warning. If someone in the household avoids aspartame, this is the can in the range that works for them.
One thing worth knowing before you open it. There is no colour in the recipe, so the liquid pours clear rather than tinted. The flavour is in the taste, not in the look of it.
The flavour is tropical and rounded rather than sharp, closer to the soft sweetness of a ripe mango than to a citrus soda. That makes it the easiest flavour in the range to hand to someone who does not normally drink anything carbonated.
The full recipe is water, fructose, carbon dioxide, flavouring, acidity regulators (citric acid and malic acid), stabiliser (trisodium citrate), preservative (potassium sorbate) and sweeteners (acesulfame K and sucralose).
